CrossFit

CrossFit is a challenging and exciting fitness program that is growing rapidly and taking the fitness industry by storm. A CrossFit box is a place where people come together to be their best physically by working hard at functional movements that are useful, practical and rewarded in everyday life. The beauty of CrossFit is that anyone who is committed can do it (see the “what is CrossFit” video on our pics/vids page), the workouts can be and often are scaled down appropriately to each persons current fitness level!

Our program design and exercises of choice strengthen the body from core to extremity while increasing mobility and range of motion and enhance competency in the ten physical domains that comprise “Fitness”.

These ten physical domains are: Cardio Respiratory Endurance, Strength, Stamina, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, Accuracy.

Simply put, the CrossFit program is: “Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity”.

CrossFit movements emphasize strength and power, perfect for anyone involved in sports, especially field sports. Just as the name implies, we will work to develop strength, power and speed. We do this by sticking to CrossFit’s training philosophy described above but with an emphasis on power lifts, olympic lifts, sprinting, throwing and jumping. Bodybuilding in a globo gym will not improve athletic performance, the right conditioning in a sport simulated environment will. Still not sure? Here are a couple good links. PIA(Players in Action), CrossFit Football. The exercises and programming are perfectly designed to make better athletes, this is because the exercises tend to be hip dominant and strengthen the body from core to extremity; the same way power is produced. We incorporate kettlebells into our CrossFit and Bootcamp Classes. A kettlebell is a century old Russian training tool that looks like a bowling ball with a handle on it. Kettlebells are gaining popularity again due to their exceptional ability to burn fat and increase endurance, they are also great for developing strength and power depending on the persons goals. The use of kettlebells by celebrities has also brought them back into the spotlight. A recent study by the American Council on Exercise has shown kettlebells to be the most effective way to burn calories, burning up to 1200 an hour(possibly a little overstated but they are good).

Boot Camp

Our Boot Camp classes are perfect for any fitness level.  They are just as intense and as challenging as CrossFit, basically just scaled down and some of the more technical exercises substituted out. They are a great way to get your strength and cardio in.

The CrossFit Kids Classes here at CrossFit Stoney Creek will be led/coached by Phil, a fantastic member here and retired Police Officer.

Every Thursday at 10:15am – 11:30am

This is a full spectrum class developed specifically for CrossFit bodies and minds on their rest days. With that being said, the needs of CrossFitters and non-CrossFitters are similar, better hip and shoulder opening(addressing tight hips and shoulders), better upper back mobility(thoracic mobility), better alignment of spine(proper posture). If possible please bring a yoga mat and block (very inexpensive at any department store

Personal Training

If for some reason you don’t feel that you are ready or are uncomfortable going straight into classes we offer 1 on 1 Personal Training or small private classes.

EVERY TIME you come in for a workout you will be instructed and led by an experienced and Certified Personal Trainer/CrossFit Trainer/Agatsu Kettlebell Instructor/Agatsu Advanced Barbell Instructor/Registered Holistic Nutritionist. You will be blown away by the results you get.

YOU WILL NOT walk around aimlessly wondering what to do and if you are doing it correctly, realizing after three months that you still look and feel the same. If you have been through this at your local big box/globo gym then maybe its time to try something else. Us.

Getting started is easy!
