  • CrossFitCrossFit is a challenging and exciting fitness program that is growing rapidly and taking the fitness industry by storm. A CrossFit box is a place where people come together to be their best physically by working hard at functional movements that are useful, practical and rewarded in everyday life. The beauty of CrossFit is that anyone who is committed can do it (see the “what is CrossFit” video on our pics/vids page), the workouts can be and often are scaled down appropriately to each persons current fitness level! Our program design and exercises of choice strengthen the body from core to extremity while increasing mobility and range of motion and enhance competency in the ten physical domains that comprise “Fitness”. These ten physical domains are: CardioRespiratory Endurance, Strength, Stamina, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, Accuracy. Simply put, the CrossFit program is: “Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity”. CrossFit movements emphasize strength and power, perfect for anyone involved in sports, especially field sports. Just as the name implies, we will work to develop strength, power and speed. We do this by sticking to CrossFit’s training phylosophy described above but with an emphasis on power lifts, olympic lifts, sprinting, throwing and jumping. Bodybuilding in a globo gym will not improve athletic performance, the right conditioning in a sport simulated environment will. Still not sure? Here are a couple good links. PIA(Players in Action), CrossFit Football. The exercises and programming are perfectly designed to make better athletes, this is because the exercises tend to be hip dominant and strengthen the body from core to extremity; the same way power is produced. Inquire about team training. We incorporate kettlebells into our CrossFit and Bootcamp Classes. A kettlebell is a century old Russian training tool that looks like a bowling ball with a handle on it. Kettlebells are gaining popularity again due to their exceptional ability to burn fat and increase endurance, they are also great for developing strength and power depending on the persons goals. The use of kettlebells by celebrities has also brought them back into the spotlight. A recent study by the American Council on Exercise has shown kettlebells to be the most effective way to burn calories, burning up to 1200 an hour(possibly a little overstated but they are good). with Lorna SkalHi y’all, My name is Lorna Skal. I am co owner and a coach at CrossFit Stoney Creek. Growing up my sports of passion  were figure skating for over ten years and soccer. My first CrossFit experience was really tough and afterwards brought me to the floor, that’s when it hit me, this sport is AWESOME!!! What really drew me to CrossFit is how different and challenging each workout is, its impossible to plateau. CrossFit made me realize how much I love lifting weights! What excites me the most about my job is having the opportunity to introduce and teach people functional full body movements that will help them not only in the gym but in everyday life. CrossFit truly is for everyone, I believe anyone can do it when the exercises are modified accordingly to each persons fitness level. My 66 year old dad comes to our gym three times a week. When my fiance Lee and I decided to open up our own CrossFit gym we both had the same goal in mind which is our commitment to improving peoples health through diet and exercise. We feel very privileged to be able to witness and take part in peoples life altering changes that happen in their lives. CrossFit is more than a fitness program it is a way of life that not only makes you stronger physically but builds character and helps you mentally. The most rewarding thing about being a coach is helping people reach their goals and guiding them into finding out that they can do more than they ever thought possible by tapping into their full potential. I am CrossFit Certified and have Agatsu Olympic Lifting and Power Lifting Certifications. 6:00 am to 7:00 am

I was born and raised in Hamilton, ON. and currently live in Stoney Creek, ON. with my beautiful fiancé Lorna Skal. I lived in Alberta and British Columbia for a total of about four years after high school where I had some amazing adventures and some of the best times of my life. I have always been very active beginning when I was a small child. A high energy kid who was always outside, I couldn’t sit and play video games while their was so much fun to be had outside. I went from big wheels to BMX to mountain biking and snowboarding. I have stuck to these two sports up to present and have been addicted to CrossFit since 2006 when Adam Morden introduced it to the gym I was personal training at. If you live in my area you may have seen me climbing trees or jumping rocks while hiking the nearby waterfall or biking my dog along the bruce trail. I’ve trained clients in a variety of sports such as volley ball, hockey, basket ball and downhill skiing although the majority of my clients are everyday people looking for weight loss and better health. Every sport (or goal) emphasizes different areas of fitness; explosive power, muscle endurance/lactic acid threshold, strength and cardiovascular endurance are just a few. Prior to 2006 my personal training career started with the more common qualifications, CanFit Pro and CPTN Certified Personal Trainer. After being introduced to and becoming obsessed with CrossFit I sought out more advanced and useful Certifications such as CrossFit Trainer, the CrossFit Gymnastics Certification, Agatsu KB instructor Course, Agatsu Advanced Barbell Instructor Course and a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition from CSNN. Proud moments for me were helping a female high school graduate nervous about university volley ball try outs walk on to the McMaster University volley ball team with ease, beating out many second and third year players with a fitness level far surpassing her team mates. Helping a 13 year old client of mine, a national level slalom and GS skier move up a class from K1 to K2 and qualify for the junior Olympics competing against kids much older than him was also gratifying. I’ve also helped many average Joes and Joannes reach there goals and I can help you too. See our Testimonials page for some very inspiring pictures and stories. Now that you know a bit about me, let’s get to work helping you get healthier and in the best shape of your life. But first, read below to learn more about Lorna’s passion for helping others. 7:00 am to 8:00 am

9:00 am to 10:00 am

A recent study by the American Council on Exercise has shown kettlebells to be the most effective way to burn calories, burning up to 1200 an hour(possibly a little overstated but they are good). with Lee Crompton“My name is Lee Crompton, I was born in 1979. Lee and Lorna CrossFit Stoney Creek *15% Discount for – Fire/LEO/EMS/Military/Students Your first class is FREE, you have nothing to lose! with Lee Crompton“My name is Lee Crompton, I was born in 1979. 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
5:00 pm to 6:00 pm

5:00 pm to 6:00 pm

  • Boot CampOur Boot Camp classes are perfect for any fitness level.  They are just as intense and as challenging as CrossFit, basically just scaled down and some of the more technical exercises substituted out.
